Safety Information - Read Before Using Retract-a-Band

  Important Safety Information

To avoid accidents and personal injury, read and obey all safety messages following this symbol. Retract-a-Band is not a toy.


Read Before Using Retract-a-Band


· Consult your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program. If you have a medical condition, obtain medical approval before using Retract-a-Band.

· Use Retract-a-Band products for their intended use only. Serious injuries can occur if not used properly. Any elastic resistance product can result in a fall, a strike to your body, or cause other serious injuries if instructions are not followed.

· Inspect Retract-a-Band for damage before and after each use. Do not use if a band is damaged in any way. Discard a damaged product or contact Retract-a-Band for a replacement.

· Follow the exercise instructions provided by your wellness coach, exercise specialist, or other healthcare provider. Exercises offered on this website and with the product are guidelines only and are not a substitute for exercises provided by your healthcare specialist. 

· If you are under 18 years of age, please use Retract-a-Band under the supervision of an adult.


Using Retract-a-Band


· Make sure Retract-a-Band is securely attached to your hands/feet as illustrated in its instructions.

· Always hold the handles firmly during any exercise as a resistance band can tear and hit your body or cause you to fall, each of which could cause serious injuries.

· Perform exercises without Retract-a-Band until you are comfortable, then begin exercises with Retract-a-Band.

· Wear eye protection.

· Do not use Retract-a-Band in any way that may cause it to break towards the head and cause injury to the eyes.

· Never use this product to support your own body weight or any other person’s body weight.

· Do not over-stretch the Retract-a-Band more than 2-3 times its resting length

· Perform all exercises purposefully, in a slowly controlled manner.

· Do not release Retract-a-Band handles while resistance band is under tension, nor release it toward another person, animal or breakable object.

· Breathe evenly while performing any exercises with Retract-a-Band.

· Do not use Retract-a-Band while experiencing pain.

· Maintain proper posture, body alignment, balance, and stance during exercises. 

· Muscle soreness may be experienced after the first few days of using Retract-a-Band. Consult your Healthcare Professional if this soreness lasts longer than this or becomes painful.

· Stop exercising immediately if you experience any abnormal physiological changes of any kind, e.g. dizziness, trouble breathing, increased pain or beginning to feel sick. Contact your healthcare provider immediately.

· Retract-a-Band should not be chewed, ingested, or placed in your mouth.

· Avoid placing fingers near locking mechanism hinges when opening and closing the locking mechanism.


Caring for Retract-a-Band


· Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, and avoid extreme temperatures.

· Clean with mild soap, luke-warm water, and pat dry.

· Report any serious incidents using this product to Retract-a-Band and to the competent local authority.

· Do not immerse Retract-a-Band in water or use in an environment with water encountering the product.

· Refer to the “Helpful Hints” section of the instructions and/or visit Retract-a-Band.com if your Retract-a-Band tears or breaks in any way.

· Discard or return any damaged Retract-a-Band. 

Elevate Your Fitness with Retract-A-Band

Instructions for Use

1. Open Retract-a-Band carefully so as not to damage your new product.


2. Inspect Retract-a-Band for any defects in the components. If defects are detected, please contact Retract-a-Band.com before using.


3. Grip Retract-a-Band by slipping the back of your hand through the nylon strap on each of the Retract-a-Band handles and placing your fingers on the impressions along the top of the locking mechanism.


· Do not let the resistance band touch your hand or fingers, see Note below. 

· The nylon strap should fit comfortably over the back of your hand (not the back of your fingers or knuckles). 

· The hump-shaped side of the handle, with the magnet, should fit comfortably inside the palm of your hand. 

· Rest your thumb comfortably on the top of the handle so you can squeeze it tightly when using Retract-a-Band. 


Note: Do not let your fingernails push into the resistance band as this can cause tears.


· To adjust the length of the nylon strap, remove the longer end from its attachment and reattach it to achieve a comfortable length. Once this adjustment is made, you may cut the remaining length to achieve a clean look. Repeat this process with the other Retract-a-Band handle.

*DO NOT USE THE NYLON STRAP AS A HANDLE, but only as a support over the back of your hand.


4. Adjust the Resistance Band Length 


· Release the locking mechanism on one or both handles by pulling up firmly on the outer edge where the words “Pull Here To Unlock” are engraved. Avoid placing fingers near locking mechanism hinges during this releasing. The locking mechanism tilts back exposing the opening where the resistance band enters the handle.


· To lengthen, pull the resistance band out of the handle to the desired length using your hand on the opposite handle or with your opposite hand directly on the resistance band. 


Note: Make sure that when pulling the resistance band out of the handle, the opening on the handle is facing the direction from which you are pulling. 


· To shorten, allow the resistance band to retract back into the handle to the desired length.

· When the resistance band is at the desired length, squeeze the handle/locking mechanism firmly where “Push Here To Lock” is engraved until you hear it click. The resistance band is locked in place and safe to use. 


5. To Use Retract-a-Band, hold the handles firmly while pulling one or both handles away from the other. Always squeeze the handles/locking mechanism firmly where “Squeeze Here with Fingers” is engraved.


Hazard Warning Safety Signs - from Key Signs UKCAUTION: Never let go of the Retract-a-Band handles when the resistance band is taut! Let go of the handles only when the resistance band is slacked.


6. If the locking mechanism unlocks, while using Retract-a-Band, squeeze the handle/locking mechanism firmly where “Squeeze Here with Fingers” is engraved until you hear it click. The resistance band is locked in place and safe to use.


7. Use the Magnets in the handles as an easy and convenient way to store and carry Retract-a-Band. 


· Retract the resistance band fully back into the handles on BOTH sides.


· Align the magnets (even through the straps) and the handles will snap together firmly. You can pull them apart when you are ready to exercise.
